Château de la Vieille Chapelle

Fabienne and Fréderic are the lively owners of Château La Vieille Chappelle in Lugon, on the edge of the Dordogne opposite the Île du Carney.

Situated close to Libourne, Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux, they produce Bordeaux red, rosé and white wines and have converted the château to organic farming methods and practices since 2009.

They will welcome you all year round in one of their two guest rooms: Merlots de Baudet and Grands Blancs – which both meet required standards for persons with reduced mobility, with, notably, an adapted shower and bathroom.

To offer you an opportunity to unwind, there is a dining room with tea and coffee available and a garden with barbecue on the banks of the river, or you can opt for the table d’hôte and enjoy a conversation over a glass of the latest vintage.

In addition to the 12th century chapel situated on the estate, there is no shortage of places to visit, as well as an exceptional view point from where you can see the tidal bore, a wave which travels the length of the river from the estuary during the spring tides.

Guests can be welcomed in a number of languages including English, Swedish, Chinese, German and… horse, as horses are also welcome on site.

Château de la Vielle Chapelle produces red, white and rosé wines of the Bordeaux appellation, on 21 hectares of vines, including 9 located next to the Dordogne, which gives the wines highly individual bouquets. The emphasis is placed on well-crafted, high-quality production and, since 2009, the conversion of the château to organic farming methods and practices has been underway.

Three times a year, the owners of the château organise open days where wine is combined with culture: Musique & Vin in June, Vins & Vague in August and De Vin & d’Art in November.

Atmosphere

For one week only, Château de la Vieille Chapelle will be taken over by art for the pleasure of visitors to the château. Works of art on loan from regional artists will be on display both inside and outside the château: photographs, paintings, drawings, sculptures, jewellery… all tied in with the theme of wine, of course!

Tasting of the château wines is available throughout the week; an opportunity to spend a few special moments with the owners who will let you sample the subtleties of their wines.

Domaine de Grand Homme

Marie-Hélène and Benoît welcome you to Blasimon in the Entre-Deux-Mers, the land of abbeys and other heritage treasures, where vines and forests share the hillsides overlooking the Garonne and the Dordogne.

Moulis-en-Médoc footpath

The Moulis footpath is a 14 km signposted path running through part of the commune of Moulis-en-Médoc.

Offering the ideal opportunity to stop off at the countless châteaux located along the footpath, why not sample one or more of the crus, visit the Museum of Winemaking Skills and Trades, discover the fountain of La Raze which supplied water to an ancient wash house, refresh yourself at the Moulin de Tiquetorte (a former 16th century water mill) and finally, finish your trip with a visit to the Saint Saturnin church, a true 12th century architectural gem, one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in the region and a passing place for pilgrims on the Road to Compostela.

Festivals in Madiran

This September, two major events are being organised by the Cave de Crouseilles where you can relish all the flavours of Madiran:

- Crouseilles Fête l'Eté will be held at the Château de Crouseilles on the weekend of 4th/5th September

- A special Harvest Festival event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Cave de Crouseilles will be held on the weekend of the 11th/12th September

There are endless activities on the agenda over the two weekends: free tours, mini wine-tasting courses, a games area, family discovery trails, exhibitions of work of local artists…

And in terms of culinary delights, there are regional gourmet dishes, brand new recipes and meals in the company of local producers.

Domaine d'Espérance

An 18th century charterhouse situated in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac wine region which stretches over 150 hectares boasting one of the best crus of Armagnac, a 4-star Bacchus gîte and a cookery school to complete the heritage tour.
This is what the estate owner, Claire de Montesquiou, is offering to visitors and tourists who are enthusiastic to discover winemaking and gastronomy.
From 15th July until the end of August, the estate will open its doors on Thursdays from 10am to 6pm.
Walks amongst the vines of the estate, tours of the wine cellars (bottling and ageing) and free tasting sessions available.
Regional wines, Floc de Gascogne and bas-armagnac are sure to stimulate your palate.
