The countryside around St. Emilion has been listed as a cultural landscape on the list of world heritage sites by UNESCO since December 1999. Every Friday from May to October, the Tourist Office offers a full-day visit to discover this area from Saint-Emilion or Bordeaux (bilingual visit in French/English). This visit includes: the tour in an open-top bus with a guide to enjoy and learn about the vineyards in the area; a walk through the heart of the village and the vineyards during which you will visit a family-run wine estate and be welcomed by the owner. After the visit to the winemaking facilities he will share with you the secrets of how to make a Saint-Emilion. And also: a snack at midday with a wine-grower.

Opening information : In May, the weekends of the 8th, 9th and 10th May, the 16th and 17th May, the 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th May, and the 30th and 31st May at 2pm. In June, July, August and September (until Sunday 27th September 2009), every day at 2pm.

It offers an interesting eco-museum with a trail through Bonde wood and the vineyards. Atmosphere In the heart of the vineyard of Montagne-Saint-Emilion, this 4km informative and tourist route offers information on the winegrowing landscape at 17 information points. The natural environment, the vineyard ecosystem, and the human activities in the area, the wine and the development of the wine-growing areas: each one of these aspects of this remarkable landscape is explained. You can follow the visitor circuit alone or take part in a guided visit.

To help you organise your activities, the Fronsac Local Tourist Office in Saint-Germain-de-la-Rivière can offer you many guides and maps for the local routes you can enjoy. Circuits. Departing from Fronsac, Saillans, Lugon or Saint-Aignan, enjoy a walk along the paths of the Fronsac region. With their vineyards and estates to visit, these routes of 7 to 15km in length are suitable for all and offer a number of beautiful views and surprises, including Romanesque churches, windmills, wash houses or view points of the Dordogne.
