The Gironde estuary is the largest in Europe and gives its name to the department. On its eastern side lies the Medoc. Here, land and water resources are the key to life, so preservation of the environment is essential. To discover this vulnerable yet beautiful spot, embark on a passenger boat from Pauillac, where you can also find one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world. 

Each Friday evening (boarding at 6pm on the pontoon outside the Port of Pauillac), the organisation "Les Gens d’Estuaire" will take you aboard the Petit Léon for a trip on the water and an aperitif (minimum of 15 people). With a glass of Medoc wine in your hand, spend an hour and a half on the guided trip admiring the vineyards on the water’s edge and the unspoilt natural habitat.
