Location On 12th December 1553, Henry II rubbed a clove of garlic on the lips of a newborn baby, the future Henry IV, and moistened them with a Jurançon wine that became famous from that day onward. To discover the different stages in the production of this famous wine, the winery of the Winegrowers of Jurançon Winery will welcome you throughout the year in Gan, at the gateway to the château of Pau and the Ossau valley. Tour: Discover the stages in the elaboration of Jurançon wine, from the winemaking processes carried out in the fully tiled modern premises to the bottling of the wine in the sterile chamber, not forgetting a tour of the magnificent half below-ground ageing cellar with its 4th and 5th century Gallo-Roman mosaics and innovative lighting. As you might expect, your tour will end with a free tasting of the wines of the appellation and regional produce. Don’t forget to have a look round the shop just next to the winery, where the wine of the Winegrowers of Jurançon will be on sale.

Location If you are travelling from Bayonne to Orthez on the autoroute known as La Pyrénéenne (A64), take a break and stop off in Bellocq, just twenty kilometres before the ancient capital of Béarn. Bellocq is situated amongst the wine regions of Béarn and Bellocq, whose winegrowers are grouped in the Bellocq Winegrowers Cooperative. You can’t miss the large building on the road that crosses the Gave de Pau. Don’t hesitate to stop off here, where you can be sure of a warm welcome throughout the year, to discover the wines of the Béarn appellation. Tour and tasting session: Bellocq winery is offering the chance to discover the red and rosé wines aged in the Bellocq region between the Gave de Pau and the Gave d’Oloron. Fragrant and fresh on the palate, the rosé wines are distinctive and fruity, while the red wines are light, smooth and fragrant. Please note: the Winegrowers of Jurançon Winery took over ownership of the Bellocq Winegrowers Cooperative in the year 2000: the new Bellocq store now offers a wider range of Béarn red and rosé, and Jurançon dry and sweet wines.
