Nérac is the charming capital of the Pays d’Albret where Prince Henri de Navarre, future King of France Henri 4th, spent his childhood.
The wine makers here celebrate the wines of Buzet, Brûlhois and Mézin in the friendly tradition of the Lot-et-Garonne. A great wine festival, of course, but an array of interesting activities are provided by local artisans: barrel makers, farriers, clog makers, potters, glass blowers, painters, engravers etc...
The star attraction of the festival is the "barrel kayak" contest on the river Baïse.

During the summer, the wine growers of Buzet arrange several activities for you to discover the landscapes of this 2,000-hectare wine region, its wineries and its wines:

The heart of the vines
Every Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm, visitors can discover the vines of Château Padères and Château de Gueyze from the footpaths. Georges and Stephane, a geologist and wine grower respectively, will act as your guides and tell you about vine formation, cultivation and the different varieties of vines...
After your tour of the vineyards, you will be served a glass of Buzet wine alongside regional organic produce.

The heart of wine
Every Wednesday from 11am to 12.30pm, Anne-Marie, an expert on Buzet-en-Albret wine, is available at the Cave de Buzet to offer an introduction into wine tasting.

The heart of the barrel
Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm, there is the opportunity to enjoy a free tasting of wine, straight from the barrels of the wineries of the Cave de Buzet.
