Location:
To the northeast of Pau, the vineyards of Vic-Bilh (meaning ‘old country’ in the local Gascony language) make madiran and pacherenc-du-vic-bilh wines. The first is a fairly tannic red and the second a dry or sweet white.
Vine-laden valleys share the landscape with châteaux, Romanesque churches, wash-houses, mills and typical farmhouses.
Atmosphere:
The Vic-Bilh tourist office has come up with two proposals for circuits that will allow you to discover this secret terroir.
Both circuits (one large and one small) depart from Lembeye, where the Vic-Bilh tourist office is located.
You will have the opportunity to admire the heritage, sample and purchase wines in the châteaux or at the Maison des Vins du Madiran et du Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, relax beside Cadillon lake, and discover Béarn farms and luxurious mansions...
