The first inhabitants of the town
belonged to a tribe called the Bituriges Vivisque... And in the 20 centuries that vines have been grown here, they have become a cultural element, part and parcel of the Bordeaux lifestyle - simply refined.

Stars and the supporting cast!

There are names that in themselves evoke a whole universe: Yquem, Haut-Brion , Ausone, Margaux... These châteaux are among the 57 "AOC" (PDO) set on the 5 terroirs in the Bordeaux wine region. Whatever direction you take as you leave Bordeaux, you can meet estate owners, visit a museum, learn how to taste wine...

Whether you are connoisseurs or beginners, start by finding the right keys

The guide to beat all guides before travelling around the region: the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB). This organisation created a Wine School and recently opened a wine bar on its premises. You can taste Bordeaux wines here along with some delicious tapas. The welcome is professional and very friendly. The CIVB bar is opposite the tourist office, the ideal point to find out about tours or get any other information. You will then have the keys to discover the 117,000 hectares of vines in Gironde.

In the land of wine, the senses are King

Look at the towers of the châteaux in the Médoc, Graves or Entre-deux-Mers as they emerge from between the vines. Touch the old stone of the village houses or wine cellars. Smell and taste the aromas of various vintages. Listen to the chatter at a wine fête... Vineyards are living places - particular when they hold Open Days. Come and see what goes on behind the scenes, and discover the world of wine!
