Location A remarkable and classy site, the domaine d’Ognoas stretches out over 565 hectares around Arthez-d’Armagnac, about 20 km to the east of Mont-de-Marsan. In charge of this venue open to everybody, the local council of the Landes region decided to make it one of the showcases of the Landais terroir.
Tour and tasting When you arrive the medieval gate reminds you what a rich past this former fort has. The word ‘timeless’ springs to mind. You start with a pleasant guided tour with a reading of the landscape through which runs the Midou. In continues in the antique winery where the oldest pot-still in Gascony (1804) is to be found. The guides treat you like a special guest and everything is done to offer you a genuine feel for the spirit of Armagnac. Next, you are initiated into tasting: 7 armagnacs as well as some Floc de Gascogne, not forgetting the famous Grands Millésimes chocolates.
