You are here: MarmandaisOn horseback, on foot or by bike, drink in the gorgeous sceneryThere is a whole host of offerings for guided tours or excursions all over the Lot-et-Garonne area. One of them is for a family outing, with departure from the Marmandais cooperative winery in Cocumont, in which you can enjoy the sights of the Garonne Valley. Signposts indicate the different grape varieties as a first approach to wine; you can then taste them when you get back to the cooperative. Water babyWhat is true of Buzet is also true of the Marmande area: the Lot-et-Garonne is strongly oriented towards river tourism. Take a "gabarre" boat or hire a boathouse from the Pont-des-Sables nautical centre. If you’re keen on something more active, you can go down part of the Garonne in a kayak. There’s no better way to see the façades of Tonneins! The river is also subject to sudden rises in water level... In Couthures-sur-Garonne, the "Gens de Garonne" touch on this subject as they plunge you into the sometimes tumultuous life of the village. There is an explanatory model, a museum and a scenovision show, and in summer an outing on the river with lifeguards, with food served. Craftsmen and producersIt is the "Fermes de Garonne" producers who serve the food in Couthures-sur-Garonne. This is a network of 24 farmers, winegrowers, market gardeners, a beekeeper and horticulturalists, all standard bearers for the "garden of south-west France". Among the other traditions perpetuated, you will see leatherwork, wickerwork, stained-glasswork, decorative arts... All made with authentic know-how and found in the workshops and markets, some of which take place at night during the summer. And the sunny season is officially declared each April at Garorock, a festival with a fast-growing reputation.
