A dovecote emerges from the vines in Buzet, the turrets of a Medoc chateaux, and further south, the view of the vineyards of Basque Irouléguy will only make the wine taste nicer.

Horse riding at the Saint-Yzan-de-Soudiac Riding SchoolThe Saint-Yzan-de-Soudiac Riding School welcomes both children and adults and organises day excursions, with a picnic in the forest and nature discovery included. Claverie horse riding excursionsLocationCatherine Barberin, a state-qualified riding instructor, welcomes you from September to June to her horse farm set on the hillsides of the Marmandais area between Agen and Bordeaux. In July and August she transfers her activity to Saut-du-loup Lake in Miramont de Guyenne. You can contact her and make an appointment for a horse or pony ride in the west of Lot-et-Garonne all year long. Atmosphere and itineraries When you arrive, your horse is ready to mount. You just have to define your itinerary with Catherine Barberin, who knows the region by heart. Fancy riding amongst the vines and admiring great views of diverse landscapes. Cocumont is the place for you. Or would you rather a more aquatic environment ? Try the Lisos Valley with its pretty wooded areas. Choose your own pace - walking pace, trotting or galloping- Practical info Horse rides last 1/2 an hour for young children and a day for experienced riders. Around 20 horses and ponies available.

Domaine Mourguy: the donkeys of ArradoyLocation :Donkey farmer and wine maker, Pierre Mourguy will welcome you to his estate at Ispoure, just next to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Spend several days in the charming Basque region, by staying in the Belagorria gîte, a former mountain sheepfold that overlooks the Arradoy valley, in one of the four B&B rooms on the estate with a view of the vineyard. Atmosphere and trip : hire a donkey for a half day or full day outing and devise your own route. Member of the "Pyrenees Donkeys" association, Pierre Mourguy also suggests several signposted routes (information and maps provided) across picturesque vineyards and terraces on the Arradoy mountain. Great if you are with family or friends, the donkey is a friendly, gentle and likeable companion. He can carry children and/or bags (one donkey for 4 people max) and opens doors and people’s hearts alike. If you would like to, you can even finish your trek with a tour of the cellar to taste Irouléguy, produced on the estate.
