The grape harvest, a wonderful moment to shareEven though the work in the vineyards continues throughout the year, the period of the grape harvest is the highlight. Sometimes done at night, in the old fashioned way, or late after the first frost… the grape harvests are always an opportunity to share a great moment in the world of wine. Some wine-growers will even invite you to try your hand.

Harvest days in Haute-GirondeEach Saturday during the grape harvest, discover a château in the Bordeaux area and the wines of one appellation: Blaye côtes-de-bordeaux, côtes-de-bourg, or Bordeaux and bordeaux-supérieur.A morning spent in the vineyards will see you take part in harvesting the year’s vintage. Then share a vintner’s lunch with the wine grower and try the product of their previous harvests during a tour of the cellars. A second package trip also exists, leaving from Bordeaux in a minibus.

Harvest Festival in MarcillacIn Haute-Gironde to the north east of Blaye at Marcillac, the traditional style grape harvest Day is the chance to see a range of examples of traditional production and tasting of new wine. Conviviality and festivity are the watchwords of this event, which offers visitors the change to take part in grape picking, with horse-drawn carriages and period costumes, then to watch the pressing and taste some Vin Nouveau.
