Sauternes 1855, golden winesThis day offers you the chance to discover the beautiful region of Sauternes, close to the Garonne and the Ciron, the birthplace of the prestigious dessert wines of Barsac and Sauternes. The visit starts at château de Malle, a historic 17th century property surrounded by wonderful Italian gardens. Then, one of three wine growers will welcome you, alternating each Saturday, for a lunch of fine food and wine. Finally, the secrets of how sweet wines are made will be explained in a third vineyard. Vineyards Information Desk: book an individual visit to a vineyardNot to be missed: If you want to visit one or more estates in the Bordeaux region, get in touch with the Bordeaux tourist office. Find out the terms and conditions for visiting the prestigious crus of Bordeaux, get hold out a range of documents to make your trips easier (map of the wine region, guides of châteaux per appellation, list of châteaux open at the weekend,...) and your tasting tours.For just a few euros more, the tourist office also organises special tours to Sauternes and into the Médoc, in partnership with the Pauillac tourist and wine office. The price includes: - Two tours of the appellations and estates of the visitor’s choice (and potential cost of the tasting tour to be paid directly at the property). Art and Wine, A connoisseur’s journey in MédocThree Médoc estate owners (Arsac, Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande and Lynch-Bages) and the Maison du Tourisme et du Vin in Pauillac have joined forces to recount the history of their vineyards, to make their wines available for tasting and to interpret the works of art that they are exhibiting: the Garden of Sculptures at Arsac, the works of Ryan Mendoza at Lynch-Bages and Julien Pol at the tourist office, and the collection of glassware on display at Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.
